Introduction
If you are interested in purchasing this bag link is here
My journey to search for bags continues. Last time I featured a briefcase from Saddleback leather, it’s a beautiful bag and if you are interested click on the link. Today I am going to review Bleu de Chauffe. It’s not the first time that I am reviewing Bleu de Chauffe, I previously reviewed a backpack from them as well.
Crafted by a single artisan in Aveyron, France, this bag merges 18 oz British Millerain waxed canvas with vegetable-tanned leather accents for a look that ages beautifully and performs consistently.
In this article, I am going to review the bag itself and show you how the Business Musette stands out in the crowded world of men’s work bags by dissecting its artisanal heritage, meticulous materials, thoughtful design, and sustainability ethos. Whether you’re navigating the daily commute or jet-setting for work, this musette promises a blend of utility and elegance. We’ll walk through essential details plus styling tips, user reviews, and long-term value perfect for fashion-focused men who demand both function and flair.

Thoughtful Design & Layout
Musette de cour is a French bag pipe that was used in French courts during the 17th and 18th century. I thought bag pipes were only used in Scotland, but I guess my knowledge with instruments ends there. Musette bags are named after this bag pipe as it resembles a similar appearance to the instrument itself.
Compact yet Capacious Dimensions (40×32×12.5 cm)
The bag is pretty spacious but small enough for under-seat travel. There is a separate laptop pocket inside the bag and it fits up the 16 inch laptops. Now the 16 inch laptop is still pretty big and it’s a normal business laptop. The only downside is that if you put anything into the laptop pocket, the rest seems to be a bit tight. Maybe it’s because of the sleeve, but I would like to put more stuff into it including my lunch box. You can also remove this laptop pocket as well if you aren’t planning to carry a laptop.
Organized Interior and Exterior
The Bag features two front pockets, rear slip compartment (or I have learnt that it’s also called magazine pocket), a detachable felt laptop sleeve, and inside zip pocket signed by the maker. So there are a lot of pockets. In a way the design of the pockets are very similar to the previously reviewed bag from Saddleback leather. I like how it’s very functional and keeps a lot of stuff with a lot of pockets.

Functional Elegance with Guilloché Clasp
The front flip is made of an engraved brass push-button that is both visually refined and robust, a subtle luxury that stands out. Other buttons are all push buttons and the back pocket is magnetised.
Heritage You Can Feel

Made by One Artisan in Aveyron
It’s made in France! It’s often difficult to come across items that are made in France, but this bag is. Every Bleu De Chauffe Bags are crafted by a single artisan who signs each bag ensuring care, quality, and soul in every stitch. Here is the tag from the person who made this bag, it seems like it’s from an artisan named Catherine and you can also see the date of the production. I think this is always a great touch from any brands because I feel more connected with the brand and can imagine this is helping the artisans to keep their skills and helping them as well. Although, unsure if that’s true, it certainly does feel that way.
Check out their other products from the link here. You can see their other products are inspired by historic French work bags used by postmen, fishermen, journalists. Bleu de Chauffe attempts to translate rugged heritage into modern professional use.
Exceptional Materials & Craftsmanship
18 oz British Millerain Waxed Canvas
Although the bag is made in France, the canvas is made and Imported from a revered UK mill, British Millerain. British Millerain produces real fine canvas and large brands such as barbour uses their canvas. The 590 g/m² canvas resists wear and water while softening over time for a unique tactile presence.
Vegetable‑Tanned Leather Details
Leather trims, handles, and clasp accents are made from eco-friendly, slow-aged veg-tanned hides. These develop a rich patina with use.

The inside laptop pocket is made of felt, to protect your precious laptop and other gadgets you might put in there. Felt doesn’t feel thick, but squish enough to protect your laptop from usual usage of the bag.
